| Radio program recommendations |
[May. 13th, 2008|06:48 pm] |
At my new job I have free reign of the radio, and I'm looking for some good programs to listen to during the day. I'm thinking mostly CIUT, CKLN and CBC, but if you know of any gems on other stations (though I'm doubtful) let me know. Please tell me there is more than just reggae and talk on all day... the results of my constant radio surfing today were pretty bleak.
PS the radio in question only takes tapes. Is there any kind of adapter that will hook my ipod up to a really old boombox, or should I just give up completely and buy a cheap CD player for work? Thoughts? |

I am looking for a company who will do a move of a few pieces of furniture & some boxes between now and the end of the month for a reasonable cost. I would like to get a recommendation from someone here as I will be moving from Ajax to Scarborough..
Thanks! |

| | bouncy | ] | York York !!
Hi folks; hope you're all having a good summer startup. FOUR! questions : 1) Shoot me now, I got in U of T without my final grades (Concordia is SLOOOOOW omg I still have Coms Theory to wait for!). They want an answer by the 20th of May. Please tell me if I should accept it and then once I get accepted in York cancel it. Is this doable through OUAC in a non-panic inducing, technologicaly retarded way. I do NOT want to end up going to U of T. But it's a necessary safety net. Similar experiences?
2) I'm coming over this long weekend! Woo what are you guys up to in Torantah or York, should I visit the campus at any particular time?
3) Suggestions for random 1000 level 6 or 3 credit courses to take in SCIENCE! :D I did advanced math, physics and chemistry in High School but never touched it since. I also do not want to do biology unless you can garentee there will not be absurd amounts of memorization and girls who enjoy naming the parts of the woman's sexual organs. ( I was at the bathroom taking deep breaths before a Communication Theory exam in April; trying to regroup all the notions relating to semotics, Barthes, Cybernetics, Metaphors, Panopticism,sub-altern counter publics etc etc and there was another group of young ladies preping for their Biology exam..taking about female genitalia! I wanted to KILL THEM. Omg. No offense, It was a hilarious moment.)
and 4) I've gotten suggestions that if I can opt out or get credied for fa facs 1900 and coms intro 1010/2030 I should. I am expecting to get third year standing so I was wondering...why would I even NEED to take INTRO courses when I'd be third year, and how do I go about convincing the transfer dep. I really don't need any of the intros because I've been eating, drinking, sleeping and living all of these subjects for the past 4 years of my academic life?
Thank you kindly from Montreal, and enjoy this wonderful sunny day !!! |

Ive posted this a few times and as I've only recieved very few responses in the past, I think this will be my last time doing so.
Tired with the endless run around and consistent failure of getting a decent bartending job, Ive decided to take the (hopefully, but historically not) easy way out. Think of this as a bounty or a finders fee.
I'm an experienced bartender looking for a decent bar or club in which to ply my trade. The bigger and busier the better, and the more stable and consistent the hours the better. I also don't know how to say that I want to work at a 'cool' bar/club in any way than that.
Here's the fun part: The finder's fee I'm offering is based on the effort needed to get me the job, and how good the place is. It will range from $100 to $2000(up from 1250 last time), based on the above criteria.
Feel free to add me at cannibalchris1986@hotmail.com or leave a message here to begin corospondance.

God really does love me after all.
I have been having a terrible few days. Yesterday was awful. I wrote a 2 or 3 page entry about how awful my day was, and decided to dump it because it was so damn negative. Everything was eating at me. Mother's day, work, school, the impending reality of adulthood, my fucking twitching eyelid. Everything. I almost cried yesterday at my stupid video class, this bitch...ugh. We had a lighting workshop at night instead of a normal class, and apparently we were supposed to bring our cameras, but SHE DIDN'T TELL US THIS and then did that awful condescending "well exactly what did you think we were going to be doing?" to make herself look like less of a dumbass for NOT TELLING US TO BRING OUR CAMERAS. We haven't brought our cameras to class all quarter, why would we arbitrarily decide to bring them that night?
So yeah, I wanted to hit someone. I went to the gym yesterday to vent, and EVERY MACHINE THAT I'VE EVER USED was taken. That has never happened before. I just went home in a huff. And, finally, this screenwriting class which I've been keeping on the farthest of the backburners is finally catching up to me. I have to finish a screenplay (which is looking like it's going to be at least 120 pages) by the end of the quarter, June 4th. I'm on page 28.
So, naturally, I'm freaking out about when these 92 pages are going to magically write themselves. I have to present some stuff tomorrow, and I wanted to get at least to page 50, but that just isn't happening. So my eyelid's twitching, my heart is racing, my fingers are flailing in surrender, and I am thisclose to giving it all up and hibernating for the rest of the quarter.
But then, a stream of merciful hope broke through my window.
I just got an e-mail from my screenwriting professor. He canceled tomorrow's class.
Every day I'm convinced there's some higher power flicking rubber bands at me in my sleep, you know? Fucking with me. I know giving power to "fate" or "God" or whatever is sort of a cop-out, but you don't really expect me to blame myself for all the shit that goes wrong in my life, do you? Whatever. I feel so much better right now.
Oh sweet, this means I can go to the gym tomorrow to make up for Monday too! AH TODAY IS TURNING OUT SO MUCH BETTER THAN YESTERDAY. I mean, yesterday was bad. I was even toeing that "Holy shit this is so not worth it I hate school I hate life what the fuck am I doing with myself" line of despair. But now I feel great.
Anyway, that's it. I graduate in a month and a day. Isn't that terrifying? |

| Anyone in The Annex or Little Italy need a room mate? |
[May. 13th, 2008|11:22 am] |
I'm moving out of my one-bedroom apartment July 1 and am looking to live with one or two room mates in the vicinity of The Annex or Little Italy.
I'm keeping my eyes peeled on Craigslist, but thought I'd throw it out there to the Toronto LJ community to see if anyone's got an upcoming available room. I'm hoping to spend no more than $600 all-inclusive (heat, hydro, water), and I come with a very lovable fixed and de-clawed cat.
Check out my CL ad here.
Please leave me a message here or reply to my ad if you might have something!
Thanks in advance,
Yvonne PS: I'm studying to be a baker/pastry chef and bake a LOT of goodies...if that tips the scales with anyone! ;o)
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm looking for permanent residence, not a summer sublet. Thanks! |

So I'm trying like crazy to get to see these tickets but it's not even accepting my Citi card digits. Is it possible it's only good for regular citi cards and not Citi Premium cards, etc?
Is someone willing to share their first 6 digits? |

I might be going there soon for a concert and I was just wondering what the atmosphere is like. Does one have to dress up or is it informal? Sorry - I'm from out of town so I'm not that familiar with the place and I don't want to show up looking dangerously underdressed. I checked out the website but maybe I'm missing something because it wasn't very helpful.
Thanks in Advance :-) |
